Rebecca Otto pledges to work to ensure accountability at all levels of government – not just local government – by advocating for sound fiscal policy both locally and at the state capitol. She promises to stand up against bad state fiscal policy that weakens school and local government finances or forces property tax increases.
“Rebecca is dedicated and hard working. She will make a great State Auditor.” -US Senator Mark Dayton
What Makes Rebecca an Extraordinary, Visionary Leader?
Rebecca Otto is an innovative Democratic leader who will courageously tackle the most difficult problems facing the state of Minnesota. She envisions an America with an effective and inclusive public education system, no longer hampered by insufficient funds and a lack of local control. Pivotal in effecting this type of change is a dramatic rethinking of trickle-down theory of taxation. She believes we must realize that wealth does not ever trickle-down, it trickles up, and by taxing the wealthiest among us at a fair level we will reinvest in our public trust and stimulate our economy by making more wealth available at lower economic levels.
As State Auditor of Minnesota, Rebecca will ensure funding for important community services is restored. She advocates deserting the distorted fiscal policy of “no new taxes”, which has led us to more regressive taxation through the form of property taxes, fees (both state and local), and increased tuition at our higher education institutions. Rebecca can bring together Democratic and Republican leaders to forge solutions that benefit the people of Minnesota.
