Jamal Simmons
Jamal Simmons - President of New Future Communications
Jamal Simmons is a well known political analyst and commentator seen frequently on television news programs especially CNN and MSNBC. He is also an advisor to the Democratic National Committee for the 2008 campaign to elect Barack Obama the 44th President of the United States. With an extensive background in Democratic politics and international affairs his views and opinions have also been featured in major publications such as GQ Magazine, the New York Times and USA Today.
Simmons traveled with candidate Bill Clinton during his successful 1992 campaign and was a political appointee during the first Clinton Administration. He also served as chief of staff to Congresswoman Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick. In 2000, he managed media operations in 40 states for Vice President Al Gore during his presidential campaign and served as a spokesman for him in West Palm Beach, Florida during the recount. In 2003-2004 Simmons served former Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Bob Graham and former NATO Supreme Allied Commander General Wesley Clark as traveling press secretary during their respective presidential campaigns. More recently he was a media advisor to businessman Tim Mahoney’s successful campaign for Congress in 2006 and the Nevada Democratic Party as it prepared for its first major presidential caucus in 2008.
Simmons’ international experience is extensive. He coordinated logistics for President Clinton and Vice President Gore in Europe, Asia, Africa and the Caribbean and has represented major corporations in China and Latin America. He worked on the We Are the Future charity concert with Quincy Jones in Rome in 2004 and Al Gore’s Live Earth concert in Hamburg, Germany in 2007. He has also traveled abroad with the French American Foundation and German Marshall Fund and is a former term member of the Council on Foreign Relations. A graduate of Morehouse College, Simmons received a Masters degree in public policy from Harvard University and is currently the president of New Future Communications, a Washington, DC consulting firm.
