21st Century Dem endorsed Jeff Merkley clear on Iraq (unlike his opponent)

mcjoan over at Daily Kos has an excellent write up on how Gordon Smith in Oregon is trying to run as a Democrat because the Republican brand is so toxic. He's wrongfully claiming that he was one of the first to speak out against George Bush's Iraq War.

However, the local news won't let him get away with such blatant lies. And fortunately for Oregon voters, Jeff Merkley is truly committed to ending the Iraq War. He was speaking out against the war 3 years prior to his opponent. He has consistently been against the war and is committed to removing troops upon election to the Senate.
